Jenny's Bio

Hey everyone!

My name is Jenny, and I'm a senior majoring in Creative Writing in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. I'm from the north side of Chicago, an artsy neighborhood along the lakefront called Andersonville.

I’m currently involved with Montage, a literary arts journal for undergraduate students, so you can expect to find me in the computer lab of the English building editing with a cup of coffee. After graduating from Illinois, I plan to pursue a low-residency MFA program in Fiction Writing with the hope of becoming a published author someday!

My decision to go to University of Illinois dawned on me after a campus visit. I tagged along on a summer campus tour as a junior in high school when my older sister was visiting campus as a senior. With that said, my college search started early, and now we’re both students at Illinois!

I knew what I wanted from a big university. After attending a moderately small high school with limited extracurricular activities, the numerous registered student organizations and cultural houses appealed to me and played a factor in my final decision. Of course, I was nervous at first, but it's a magical feeling to start a new chapter of your life with a clean social and academic slate.

I also got a great impression of what campus would be like for a first generation college student after attending the welcome week events in early August, and I have to say, there are resources on this campus for just about everything. So, definitely reach out when you need it!

With this blog, I hope I can highlight events and opportunities at Illinois that will appeal to you. If you’re more on the creative side like me, then pay even closer attention to my posts!
