Dan's Bio
My name is Dan and I am an Assistant Director of Admissions. I come to Admissions from managing a statewide transfer-serving initiative. Before doing that work, I had a variety of professional experiences including teaching community college, teaching at several different four-year colleges and universities, and teaching high school. I have also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer and I have worked as a field assistant on an ornithology research team.
I grew up in Illinois, but I have also lived in Costa Rica, Indiana, Virginia, New York, and even briefly in England and Russia. I have been in Urbana-Champaign, this time, since 2002, having previously lived here when I was an undergraduate at Illinois back in the 1980s.
I am excited to bring up a new blog for Illinois Admissions—I will focus on providing information for students preparing to transfer. I know the transfer application process is different than the freshman application process and those of you who are preparing to transfer have unique questions. I hope to be able to help students who are considering transferring to Illinois. There is a place for you here—we value the contributions that transfer students make to the Illinois community.
