Alice's Bio

Hey! My name is Alice and I am in the Class of 2013, majoring in Psychology. The University of Illinois was the first college I applied to but I submitted 7 more college applications. At the end of this process I was exhausted and confused. Although many of the colleges I applied to had prestigious reputations, they did not have the “it” factor. I did not feel a spark of connection with their students or picture myself walking on their campuses.

However I felt this magnetizing “it” clicked in the moment I walked through the halls of the Six Pack. I could already see myself dancing, singing, laughing and yes, even studying in those dorm rooms. When I visited again for summer orientation, I felt a buzz of energy from everyone I talked to. Their excitement mirrored mine and it made me want to pack up and head for college.

So finally I arrived a few months later and I already love the campus, people, and activities. (The food isn’t bad either!) I have only been here for a week but have already gotten to know my floor at Weston and the surrounding dorms. There is constantly something going on at Illinois and people are always willing to try new things. Everyone is open and easy to talk to – you end up meeting people everywhere you go. On our first night here we ended up meeting people through a game of Mad Gab and volleyball. My word of advice is, do as much as you can.  You will find hundreds of clubs and organizations at Quad Day and you can always start your own club.

I am excited to document my first year at Illinois and I hope it will give you some insight on this great University!
