Evan's Bio
Hey, my name is Evan. I am a freshman at the University of Illinois and am in the General Engineering and James Scholar programs. I have not chosen any concentrations in my field yet, but I hope to discover what interests me as my college career progresses. Like any college freshman, this year will be a new and exciting experience, which I am glad to share in this blog.
I grew up in Naperville, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and attended the Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) for high school. Because IMSA is a boarding school, I lived in a dorm and was constantly surrounded by students who wanted more from their education than just getting through class.
My first experience with Illinois was when my older brother applied. I tagged along on his college visits and I was awestruck by the great open campus and seemingly unlimited resources. From then on I knew that I could belong at this University. The environment is welcoming and inclusive, which definitely helps the transition from high school to college. There is also diversity, not only culturally but also intellectually, which is a great population to live among.
So go ahead and browse through my blog posts to see how my freshman year is going. I will try to give out tips and advice as I discover them. There will also probably be mistakes that you can learn from, though I have my fingers crossed that there will not be many.
