Gavin's Bio
Hi! My name is Gavin, a senior in Computer Science in the College of Engineering, originally from Highland, IL. I am passionate about business and technology – you’ll often find me creating cool stuff with technology or helping someone solve a problem they are having. In addition to my Computer Science major, I am pursuing a minor in Business Administration and a Leadership Certificate.
During high school I always thought Illinois was the place for me. The past three years have made me realize even more how great this place is. The University of Illinois is amazing. We have hundreds of registered student organizations to get involved with, amazing sports teams, award-winning professors and faculty, and vibrant cultural diversity. There are so many opportunities for students – opportunities that some current students do not take full advantage of. I will focus and feature some of these unique aspects of Illinois here on my blog.
I am involved with many different Registered Student Organizations and groups on campus. I am Director of Engineering Open House, the largest student-run event on campus. I am advisor and past-Chairman of Engineering Initiatives, a group devoted to innovating the College of Engineering. I write for the Technograph, have been an Engineering Tour Guide, and am an Engineering Learning Assistant where I teach a section of ENG 100. I love cheering on the Fighting Illini in football, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, and many other sports. I hope you enjoy my blog where I will bring you a glimpse of my life as a student trying to take full advantage of all Illinois offers.
