Lucas's Bio

Hello, my name is Lucas and I am a senior in Queer Studies here at the University of Illinois. I am from Macomb, IL (a small town around three hours west of Champaign), so I am no stranger to living in rural areas. While many students go through the change from city to small town, I eagerly adjusted from a smaller town to C-U. Although I could have attended the university that is located in my hometown, I knew that Illinois was a better choice for me. I wanted to live in a different town where I would be independent and on my own. While C-U provides this for me, it is also still close enough that going home is not impossible throughout the year.

I hope that my experience can be useful for anyone who has questions regarding Illinois. While I am not even close to being an expert about the University as a whole, I do have certain areas of expertise that can provide for common knowledge, as well as some uncommon knowledge, to be exposed. While the end of my undergraduate career here approaches, the last thing I want to do is take what I have gotten from the University of Illinois for granted. Therefore, the ideal targets for this insider information are definitely the prospective, and hopefully future, students of Illinois.

Just as many of you are going through the process for applying for undergraduate admissions, I am currently going through the same motions for graduate schools. I remember, and am now experiencing again, what it is like to choose a university and try to find out information. I am definitely here for to try and answer many of your questions. Of course, I also hope that a few tidbits of information that you had not thought to ask about are revealed as well because some secrets about Illinois are just too good to keep.
