Maricruz's Bio

Hi, my name is Maricruz, and I’m a Biology major with a pre-med focus in the College of LAS. I was born in Mexico but moved to Chicago when I was five. I attended Curie High School and was part of the IB (International Baccalaureate) Program, which allowed me to learn and embrace an extended curriculum. Not only was I surrounded by teachers who would push us to our limits, but also by students who had the desire to learn and accomplish their goals.

When my senior year arrived, the last thing I wanted to do was think about choosing a college. However, upon visiting the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I immediately fell in love with the campus, the people, and its environment. Besides its prestigious reputation, Illinois was the only university that offered me everything that I was looking for. Not only did it have a great academic reputation, but it also provided countless resources and 1,000+ organizations to choose from. In such a diverse student body, there is surely a place for everybody to call home.

As a goal-oriented student open for change, I plan to take full advantage of all the things Illinois has to offer. Through this blog, I hope to share all of the unbelievable experiences that can be found here at the University of Illinois.
