May 1st Freshman Acceptance Deadline!

It’s finally time to flip your calendars to May! As you are all aware, the May 1st freshman acceptance deadline has arrived! As I have mentioned before, you will need your first name, last name, University Identification Number (UIN), AdmitID, and date of birth to accept or decline your offer of admission. Your UIN and AdmitID should be on the back of your notice of admission letter. Online, you can use your application login and pin to find your UIN and AdmitID.

You should definitely accept your offer of admission online by May 1st, since there is no guarantee that you will be able to accept your offer past this date. Please keep in mind that there is NOT a monetary deposit required for tuition or fees at this time. However, there is a deposit that is required for housing, and also a fee for summer registration, which is mandatory for all incoming students. The sooner you accept your offer of admission, the sooner you can sign up for housing and summer registration. You can then proceed with the Admitted Student Checklist to ensure your next steps toward enrollment!

I hope this information is helpful. If for some reason you are unable to accept or decline the offer of admission online, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for further assistance. We look forward to seeing you on campus this fall!

I accepted my offer in early April and filled out the housing application shortly after. When do we receive our housing assignments?

Thank you!

Luke,

Yes, you can use the Freshman Acceptance Deadline as a guideline, but we will be more lenient with Transfer students since a handful were admitted in mid to late April.

Lindsey,

Your notification of hall assignment will come in early June.

Debra,

Unfortunately, we do not send a letter. However, there will be an online confirmation on the same page immediately after successfully accepting or declining the offer. You can contact our office if you need clarification.

I feel there should be an email sent back to confirm the acceptance, not just a pop-up on the same page(after accepting)

Jon, when will the wait list decisions come out?

Neric D

What about us who have been wait-listed?

Jon

William,

No. For University Housing, you have until May 15th as a “priority” deadline to fill out the contract and submit the deposit. You can pay the Summer Registration fee online when you select your date, or choose to defer it to your fall bill.

Jon

Nina,

If we choose to admit from the Wait List, we will notify students of their admission by early June. We do encourage students to make alternate plans, in case they are not selected from the Wait List.

Jon

Neric,

If you were given a Wait List offer, you still needed to accept your offer online. If selected, we will notify you by early June.

Do we have to come by Move in day or is it acceptable to just come before classes start? And what is Quad day?

Hi, I needed to know whether it’s okay to arrive on campus just before classes or do we have to come by Move-in Day. And what is Quad Day?

Jon

May 15, 2012, 5:17 pm

Jason,

If we choose to admit from the Wait List, we will notify students of their admission by early June.

Jon

Jessie,

Available spaces would depend on the individual program within each college. If spaces become available within the program, only those that have accepted the Wait List offer will be considered.

Zaheer,

It is okay if you arrive shortly after move-in day, as long as it is before the start of classes. Once you receive your room assignment in early summer, it is a good idea to contact your residence hall to inform them of your late arrival.

Quad Day is an optional activity on the final day of Welcome Week, where Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) advertise their clubs all in one location (on the main Quad). It is a great opportunity to get involved on campus.

I’ve got two questions.First, what’s the deadline for a transfer student?Because I just got your offer some days ago.Second,What does the transfer freshman mean´╝čWill I have to begin with the freshman if I go to UIUC this fall?

Jon

Kelly,

Typically, it is at least 2 weeks after you receive your notice of admission. Since you were admitted late, we will certainly be lenient with you. However, keep in mind that you must still sign up for summer registration.

“Transfer Freshman” just refers to the amount of credits you have coming in. If you fall slightly below 30 (0-29), you will be considered a “Transfer Freshman” in the system. Keep in mind that you can always pick up additional credits once you are on campus.

I know this is not related to this topic but I do have a question related to the Summer Registration. The website said we have to complete the placement tests at least 2 weeks prior to the registration. I took mine about 1 week and a half before my registration. Is that alright?

I’m a prospective transfer student for the fall of 2013, class of 2015. I was wondering, where do the majority of transfer students choose to live? What’s the best option for transfer students?

Deu,

Before a decision is made, we will look at the rigor of course curriculum taken in your high school and the grades received in those courses (you will provide a grading scale), ACT composite score or SAT 1 combined critical reading and mathematics score, extra-curricular activities, work experience, community service, honors and awards, as well as information submitted in the essays. Additional English Language Proficiency requirements can be found at http://www.admissions.illinois.edu/apply/requirements_freshman.html#english
