#AskAprilAndVern

Hey guys!

You may or may not have heard the news… my best pal April and I have created a show just for you! Basically, we wanted to give you guys a chance to ask us questions and get some answers straight from the horse’s mouth. Here’s how it works. First, you should check out a few of our videos here to see what questions have already been answered and maybe get some ideas for new ones! Then, tweet us @uofiadmissions with your Illinois/admissions questions using the hashtag: #AskAprilAndVern. April and I will then respond to select questions with a new video!

AskAprilVern

A little more about us:

April grew up in the Chicago suburbs and has been part of the Illinois family since she was 18! She’s been working in admissions for about 3 years now! She loves to eat good food (she thinks all food is good food) and watch Friends. She has been spotted by students frequently while at her favorite gym, CRCE and spends much of her free time planning pranks to play on her co-workers in the office.

Vern (A.K.A. Veronica, A.K.A. me) is from central Illinois. I’ve been an admissions counselor for almost 3 years. I spent my childhood running around barefoot and wearing snow boots with shorts in July (my mom says I was always ahead of my time). I love goldendoodles more than anything and my favorite show is Criminal Minds…. because Shemar Moore. I am also getting my Master’s in HRD! It’s been a great program so far and I love the Illinois professors! In my free time I like to spend too much time on the phone and send April lame texts.

So, that’s basically it. We love hearing from you and look forward to answering all of those burning questions about Illinois!

Hello,
The video isn’t working for me for some reason so I’m not sure if my question was asked in the video. I was denied admissions for this year and I’m going to apply to transfer from ISU to U of I for the fall semester. Since I was denied due to my high school grades with that happen again? I know they’ll have to look at them since ill have less than 30 credit hours of college work. If my college grades and gpa meet or exceed what it has to be will I still have trouble getting in because of my high school grades?

Hello,

If you were denied for your high school grades, then it is truly in your best interest to wait until you have 30 complete and transferable hours. While it’s great that you’re doing well in college, we won’t have enough information from your brief time at ISU to make an admissions decision without referring to your high school performance.

I encourage you to email or call our office to talk about the specifics of your situation: admissions@illinois.edu or 217.333.0302
