Being Sick at School

So lately I’ve been feeling a little sick with a stuffy/runny nose, stomach ache, headache, etc. But this weekend I’ve been REALLY sick. I’m at that point of sick where you just want to lay on the couch all day and have someone rub your back and bring you tea. But I’m not making this post to complain about how bad I feel (which is really really bad). I’m making this post to tell you about what you can do on campus when you don’t feel well and need some help!

So there is this magical place on campus called McKinley Health Center. All you have to do is call ahead and tell them you aren’t feeling well and they will make a time for you to come in to be prescribed medication or to be treated in other ways. My roommate (who is sick 24/7) is their number one customer I’m pretty sure, and when he had a cold, they gave him cold medicine, a nose spray, antibiotics, and cough drops. They really want to make sure that you are healthy again in no time! McKinley is also a good place to go for any injuries that you may have. They have things like ice packs and medical wraps.

But if you are a strong, independent person who doesn’t need a doctor, then there are other places you can go to get non-prescription medication. There’s a Walgreens right on Green Street with everything you can think of to help you out. There are also gas stations with a few options as well if you live too far from Green (but buses can take you just about anywhere).

So, as I’m sitting here wallowing in self pity, I just had an epiphany that I’m probably not the only person who gets sick at the worst times, so I hope this post helps! And for all the incoming freshmen, make sure you appreciate your mom making all those doctors appointments for you, because here it’s all you! But you can do it! 🙂
