Incoming transfer students:

I encourage you to apply for one of the IACRAO Leadership & Service Scholarships for transfer students.

IACRAO, Illinois Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, offers two scholarships to students transferring from an IACRAO member community college to an IACRAO member university. University of Illinois is a member of this group, so if you are transferring here you meet that element of the eligibility requirements. If you are transferring from an IACRAO community college (most, but not all, Illinois community colleges are memebers), you should apply. Last year both awards were givent to students transferring into University of Illinois.

Two $500.00 scholarships will be awarded:

  • The IACRAO Leadership & Service Scholarship
  • The IACRAO Leadership & Service Scholarship for Underrepresented Students

These scholarships are offered to students who:

  • Are perusing a baccalaureate degree,
  • Have completed 45 or more credit hours,
  • Are attending an IACRAO affiliated community college (see the list on the application),
  • And have been accepted into a four-year IACRAO affiliated institution (including University of Illinois).

Applications are due May 11th, 2009.

I agree, Wilson! It was exciting to have two students receive these awards for 2008-09. IACRAO is a wonderful group, and I hope many students will apply for these nice scholarships. They provide a little help financially, and are also great resume or grad school application items.

Dan,

Do you know of any scholarships offered by the College of Media?

Sam,

No, I do not, I’m afraid.

The Office of Student Financial Aid maintains an online scholarship database. I suggest you search there. It is also a good idea to ask your college advisor at orientation and at subsequent meetings about scholarship and/or honors opportunities.
