Can’t Visit Illinois? Ways to “Visit” Campus From Home

illini-union-fall-2016

Campus is beautiful, especially in the fall, but as much as you might want to, not everyone is able to make it to Urbana-Champaign for a visit. Today’s blog is for you.

Just because you can’t physically come to campus doesn’t mean that you can’t still take a look at what Illinois is all about. There are a lot of ways that you can see campus from the comfort of your own home thanks to the wonders of the internet. (Bonus: You can wear your PJs for this!)

The first stop for those who are looking for a remote campus tour is YouTube. There are some students and community members who have put together some great shots of campus. One of my favorites is UIUC From the Sky (Drone) by Weissbro. Not only does it show off the beautiful fall colors on campus, but it also gives a view that you could only get from a drone. Even the people who come to campus don’t get to see this. Plus, I really like the music.  Multiple Musical Notes on Mozilla Firefox OS 2.5

My other favorite is a hyperlapse by Champaign Photography.  The quality is pretty good and I really like that they take the time to let you know what each area you are looking at is.  To see some of these beautiful images of campus check out UIUC University of Illinois Hyperlapse.

Another good place to look is illiniview, our Illinois Admissions Instagram account. The pictures in this account are mostly from our students here on campus, so it is a good way to see what the students are seeing, like the missing poster for this guy:

Come back soon little man!

A Call for Picture Requests

Now, the videos and pictures referenced above are campus from someone else’s view. You may have something that is important to you they don’t cover. To help you see what is important to you, I am going to go offer my super sweet photography services to all of you.

Comment below with what you want to see on campus. It could be a building that you have heard a lot about, perhaps a picture of the Engineering advising offices, you might even plan on spending a lot of time in the Undergraduate Library studying and want to check out what is in the vending machines. My next blog will feature pictures of what you want to see on campus.

Requests should be posted by November 8 and will be posted in my next blog on November 15.

I can’t wait to see where your requests will take me!

I will be appreciated if you can take a picture of inside one of the laboratory equipment storage rooms in UoI. (Preferrably the one where engineering benefit from 🙂 )
