The Summer Before College

I remember the summer before my freshman year in college. That’s probably a good thing too considering the fact that it was only two years ago. Originally, I was going to participate in an internship in my hometown, but I realized that my time would be better spent soaking up every last minute before my big life move into college. It turned out that this was the best move that I could have possibly made.

That summer I did all kinds of really cool things with my family. I went to Chicago for a Cubs game and a visit to the Art Institute. I binge-watched “How I Met Your Mother.” I Played croquet out in the yard with my grandparents. I even went grocery shopping with my mom and sister. With all of these things that I did, I remember how peaceful and sweet that summer truly was.

Although there are a variety of cool ways to spend your summer before college, I recommend taking in all the small moments. Starting with syllabus week in the fall, everything will start coming at you very quickly. You will be busy, excited, and lacking boredom. Let the time right before this stand as a period of personal enjoyment.
