FAQ (and Answers!) for February 2

February 2 is almost here! I’m going to spend some time answering the most frequently asked questions that we hear from applicants prior to our decision release. If you have other questions, please leave a comment. I’d be happy to help!

How will I see my decision?

MyIllini! To view your decision, log into your myIllini account and click on your application. Before Friday comes around, I would highly recommend making sure you remember your myIllini username and password. If you experience issues before Friday logging into myIllini, give our office a call at 217-333-0302.

When will decisions be posted?

Friday, February 2 at 4:00 p.m. CST.

What decisions could I receive and what do they mean?

Admitted, Denied, or Wait Listed. Read more about decisions here.

How can I make viewing decisions smoother for thousands of applicants? Okay, that may not be a FAQ… But, this is important!

We anticipate myIllini will operate slightly slower on February 2 because of the number of applicants logging on to view their decision. To help everyone along, ensure you are the only person logging into your account. Please do not continue to hit the refresh button (it will make the system run slower for everyone!).

I got my decision, and now I have some questions. What do I do?

Give us a call! We will be available to talk to you about your decision starting Monday, February 5 at 8:30 a.m. CST (again, 217-333-0302).

Now what?!

Take a deep breath, relax, and be sure to comment with any questions!

Admissions Counselor
I work extensively with our large campus visit programs to give our prospective students first-hand experience of life at Illinois. I grew up in and around Champaign-Urbana, but most recently I moved from northwest Ohio, where I finished my master’s degree in College Student Personnel.

  • Yippee! I have got the decision. What is the deadline by which I should deposit the enrolment fee and accept the admission offer as an international freshman?

  • Hi Annesha,
Congratulations!!! The deadline to accept your offer and pay the enrollment fee is May 1. Your myIllini account is a great resource to review next steps. But if you have any other questions, please let me know!

  • Hi Ian,
Thanks for asking this question, I should have mentioned it in my post. But the decisions for Fine + Applied Arts applicants is delayed due to the audition process. You should get a decision within the next two weeks based on your audition date. If you have any questions, please contact us.

  • Admitted for Biology major at LAS-Newark, but applied as first choice for Bio engineering at Urban-Champ.
Am i still under consideration for first preference or is it possible to apply for transfer to Bio engineering at UC from LAS-newark.

  • Hi there!
When you are admitted to an alternate major, you are placed on the waitlist for your first choice.
If a student would like to change majors from one academic college to another as a current student on campus, they must complete an Intercollegiate Transfer (ICT). Each major at Illinois will have set minimum course work and GPA requirements that must be met in order to complete the ICT. Students should discuss their plans with an advisor in their current major before attempting to complete the process.
    I hope this helps!

  • Today we got the estimated cost of attendance. When will we find out information about financial aid and scholarships?

  • Hi Britney,
In addition to your award letter from the Office of Student Financial Aid, we will notify admitted students that received a merit-based scholarship by March 1. Your application for admission served as your application for those scholarships. If you have other questions, let me know!

  • Is there a post stating the number of admitted, wait-listed students for 2018-2019? How about the same numbers by college? Searching the web resulted no such information at all.
