A Trip Through Images: Vietnam and Cambodia
Caitlyn, Kevan, Jorge, and I went to Ho Chi Minh City and Hoi An in Vietnam, as well as Angkor in Cambodia. This blog consists of images that reflect our experiences!
Upon arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Kevan asked the plane crew if we can take a glance into the upper level of the double decker (first class). The crew did us one better and let us sit in the cockpit of a 747!
Caitlyn and I toured the Reunification Palace, where the official handover of power occurred during the Fall of Saigon. It was beautiful!
This is Hoi An, a town in the middle of Vietnam where we motorbiked around the countryside and got clothes tailored for us! It was quite a different experience–I’ve never been on a motorcycle before!
During our motorbike exploration, we came across a beach…and a random boat! Of course we had to goof around and take silly pictures in it. Land Ahoy!
While in Hoi An, the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival was going on. Surprisingly enough, it was also celebrated in other areas of Asia. Children dressed up and went through the streets in their dragon costumes banging drums and asking the shop owners and others for money, perhaps in exchange for good luck and fortune? At night, it added a great deal of energy to the town! Click here to see a quick clip of the festivities!
During this 6 day trip, we realized that we narrowly escaped the insane rains in Vietnam and Cambodia by a mere 2 days. Although we missed the rain, it was still flooded in many areas of Siem Reap & Angkor, Cambodia. This is a picture of a tuk-tuk, a passenger car pulled by motorcycle.
Touring the ruins of the Hindu and Buddhist temples in Angkor is by far, one of my favorite memories.
In one temple of Angkor, they decided to let nature overtake the buildings and ruins as an example of what would happen if preservation did not occur. This tree is crushing the bricks!
Caitlyn, Jorge, Kevan, and I : the group of us at Angkor Wat. This temple is the most famous and is also featured on Cambodia’s currency.
Such a cool shot– two Buddhist monks at Angkor Wat, taking a look at the view.
See those dark clouds? That was the storm that caught us on our way to the airport! Thankfully, our plane was not delayed! This is one of my favorite photos.
Until next time,
Trisha
