Working It Out
I was over at the ARC (Activities and Recreation Center) the other day and thought that classes over at the ARC would be a great topic to share with you!
One of my favorite things that are available at the ARC and at the other workout facility on campus, CRCE (Campus Recreation Center East), are the different group classes you can participate in. Any Illinois student can take the classes and the best part is that they are drop in classes so you do not have to sign up for one class for the entire semester. There are classes such as a Yoga, Cycling (this one you do have to call ahead and sign up for each week if you want to attend because the spots go quickly!), Turbo Kick, Cardio Strength, Zumba, Bootcamp Express, Belly Dance, Pilates, DanceFit, Tae Kwon Do, Cadio Dance Party and more!
Like I said, it is on a drop in basis so you could do Pilates and Belly Dancing one week and then Cardio Strength the next, or you could do them all! There are two different ways to pay for the classes. You can pay for each class that you attend as you go, or you can get a semester pass for $50. I personally get the pass because you go to 8 classes at least in a semester and it has paid for itself!
The classes are a lot of fun, but also a great workout. They are also an easy way to meet people. I am one that often is more likely to work out if I have someone else with me, so this is a great solution for me. You certainly do not have to be an expert in any of these types of workouts to attend the class. Actually, I have tried a number of different classes just to see what it was like just to try something new. The instructors are great and help you along the way and let you get the workout that you want. Here is the link to the class descriptions and schedules; so be sure to check them out: http://www.campusrec.illinois.edu/fitness/descriptions.html.
Happy workout!
