International Experiences

If you follow this blog for long enough, you may notice a trend:  I am constantly encouraging others to engage in international experiences during college.  There are 2 week programs, one month programs, and semester-long programs that you can take part in all over the world!  Whether it is during summer or winter, these experiences will change your life if you let it, and it is completely worth it!

During my freshman year, I did a 2 week program through the College of Business to China.  We toured many companies, went sightseeing, and networked with various people in their business world.  It was an eye-opening experience that led me to want a full-semester trip.  I then studied abroad in Hong Kong and got to see a large portion of Southeast Asia.  Living on my own and studying there for 4 months made me realize my independence – check out earlier posts of my blog to see more!

But it doesn’t stop at just international trips in school!  I am leaving on Friday for 3 weeks to do an international rotation in London with PwC, a public accounting firm.  There are opportunities like this everywhere if you reach out and grab them.  Illinois is the perfect place to get that global exposure as well.

Ask any questions about studying abroad or traveling here!

Until next time,

Trisha

Good Day Trisha

Would it be tough to get an internship like yours or even an internship as an international student?

Thank you
Nicholas

Global opportunities through companies can be difficult to receive but not impossible at all! Provided that you network well with companies and perform well in school, anyone has a shot at these opportunities!

International students receive internships just as much as American students do!

Hope this helps.

Hi Trisha! I am really excited in becoming a freshman in the business school this year. I had a quick question though…did you do the two weeks in hong kong with the honors program or was it a winter tour experience? Also, did you study abroad sophomore or junior year and which semester? Thanks a bunch!!!

Hi Yesi,

My trip to China was with the honors program.

I studied abroad in Hong Kong during first semester of sophomore year.

Let me know if you have more questions and good luck during the upcoming year!
