Curtis Apple Orchard
Between football season and the beautiful colors on the Quad, there is no denying that autumn is the best season at the University of Illinois. But fall is also a time of academic rigor and the peak point of visitation. So if a quick getaway is needed, there is a fabulous hidden gem that is best known to university clubs and Champaign natives: Curtis Apple Orchard.
Curtis is both an apple orchard and a pumpkin patch and offers “pick your own” apples, as well as a huge selection of apple goodies, such as apple butters, home decor, and the famous apple donuts. The orchard first began business back in 1873 and has been serving the community ever since. The activities include apple picking, pumpkin picking, obstacle courses, and pony rides.
My family has a tradition of apple picking in the fall, so I brought them to Curtis this fall. They loved everything from the apple selection to the homemade aprons.
Not to mention the famous October Lovers club loves it, too.
