It is the beginning of the school year, and high school seniors are not only thinking about which college they want to attend, they are thinking about college applications. At the University of Illinois, we make the application process easy for you. One of the ways we have made it easy is joining other top-ranked universities as a member of the Coalition for Access, Affordability, and Success. New freshmen who are applying for the Fall 2018 semester will be able to submit a Coalition application beginning on August 30. Here are a few more tidbits of information you need to know about the Coalition application.
Coalition and myIllini
We will consider students who submit a Coalition application or a myIllini application on an equal basis. In order to be consistent in our review process, we will not consider letters of recommendation or other documents from a student’s Coalition Locker. Visit our Freshman Applicant FAQ for more details.
One benefit of submitting a Coalition application is the ability to begin filling out the application profile, including self-reporting high school courses, prior to the application opening on August 30. Just be sure that course grades are entered exactly as they appear on the high school transcript.
Coalition will also allow students to begin planning for college earlier in their high school years. High school underclassmen will be able to store their grades within their Coalition account. When they plan to apply through Coalition their senior year, all of their information will be available.
We will post admission decisions exclusively on the myIllini portal. For students who already have a myIllini account, they’ll be able to use that existing account to view their status. For students who don’t have a myIllini account, we’ll create one for them. They’ll receive an email a few days after submitting the Coalition application with instructions on how to access their myIllini account.
The Coalition application provides students another avenue to submit their application to the University of Illinois. Visit the Coalition FAQ for more information.
