Accepting Your Offer

Hello Future Illini,

First off, I would like congratulate you on being admitted to Illinois and welcome you to the family! As you begin receiving decisions from the institutions you applied to, it’s important that you start narrowing your options. One way to narrow down your search is to start scheduling visits to determine which institution could potentially be a good fit.

The Importance of Campus Visits

You likely heard that Illinois is an awesome university, but you should come see it for yourself! When it comes to selecting a great fit, it is vital that you visit each institution you are considering to become your new home. Illinois provides a gamut of visit dates and opportunities for you to become well acquainted with our campus and experience what it means to be an Illini! This spring we have Admitted Daily Visits along with Admitted Student Days that are available for you to register through our Campus Visits page.

Accepting Your Offer

If your plan is to attend Illinois, you are able to accept your offer of admission within your admitted student checklist, which is accessible through your myillini account. In order to enroll in Illinois, the deposit will cost $150. Students who qualify and applied using a fee waiver will not have to pay an enrollment deposit.

The deadline to accept your offer is May 1. However, there are some advantages to accepting your offer sooner. For example, you will be able to set up a summer registration appointment—where you’ll meet your advisor and select your fall courses—more quickly. You ideally want to select your fall courses ASAP in order to avoid taking classes during non-preferred hours of the day, such as 8 a.m. or 6 p.m. (although some students do prefer those hours!). Other benefits of accepting your offer early are that you may start your housing selection process, arrange your travel plans, and start connecting with students and faculty via social media.

Why Illinois?

First, because of its culture! Illinois is a unique and vibrant campus given that we have students coming from all walks of life. Our students bring their talents, traditions, and perspectives to campus, making for a diverse “lituation”(for lack of better term). Rest assured that there is never a dull moment when you have nearly 45,000 students in one city.

In regards to aesthetics, the campus is comprised of a perfect blend of historic yet modernized buildings and structures that create a timeless classic feel. Year after year campus expands vertically and horizontally, with various instructional buildings, high-rise apartments, and new restaurants being added. The city of Champaign is one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation, primarily due to the many resources and opportunities that are available through the university itself.

Most importantly, our current students, faculty, and alumni are the reasons we are such an amazing institution with a great reputation. The creativity, innovation, and talents our students bring to campus are nothing short of extraordinary. Our alumni and faculty are rock stars and use their various areas of expertise to make positive impacts within society. Don’t take my word for it: Check out our Illini Success website and see for yourself!

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to comment below or give our office a call. Once again, congratulations on your admission. I now encourage you to proceed with the celebration, and know that I am celebrating right along with you!
