A Little Advice
As you start to prepare for college, I have some words of wisdom to share:
- Keep working hard and finish your last year of high school on a strong note. You want to make sure your grades don’t slip!
- Our campus is beautiful, but don’t take our word for it—if you haven’t visited campus yet, we strongly recommend you make a trip here to see what makes us one of the top college towns in the nation.
- Start familiarizing yourself with the resources we have for students, especially the ones you plan on taking full advantage of once you get on campus.
We share your excitement and curiosity for what the next four years as a Fighting Illini will look like for you. There are so many things to do once you are on campus, but we encourage you to take the time to settle in, get to know yourself, and improve your time-management skills before jumping into too many things at once.
Time management is key because you will have to craft a schedule that works for you—you can choose your own courses, your own time to study, and your recreational time. This does not take into account any time you plan on dedicating for extracurriculars like our student groups. So start working on better refining your time-management skills this summer to be a little more prepared for the busy life of an Illini.
Our institution has plenty of resources for incoming students, and we hope you take advantage of everything we have to offer in order to make your transition to college life as smooth as possible.
