Tips For Successful E-Learning

Whether you are currently sitting in a dorm room, an apartment bedroom, or a childhood home, I bet you hoped it wouldn’t double as your classroom this fall. One of the hardest things about going to school online or in a hybrid format is separating your bedroom from a workspace. Fortunately, I’ve found some ways to separate the two and make E-Learning a little bit easier.

Work On Homework Anywhere But Your Bed.

The first thing I’ve found is to NOT do schoolwork while sitting on my bed. This leads to lots of time making Instagram stories and TikToks. I’ve also found myself waking up from spontaneous three-hour naps when hitting the books in bed. To avoid this, try working at a desk or the kitchen table instead. Fun fact: all of the dorms on campus have recently or are currently in the process of getting all new furniture, including amazing new desks! Perfect for studying or homework.

Stick to a Routine.

This can be hard, but the more disciplined in a routine you become, the easier life will be. I like to wake up, workout, get ready, do schoolwork, cook, etc., all at the same time every day. By sticking to the same schedule every day, I actually feel guilty if I am tempted to skip a daily task. Structure = Success.

Attend Class/Zoom.

Go to class. Go to class. Go to class. It can be tempting to not log on to Zoom or to just have the class running with the audio & video off. However, actively listening and taking notes during EVERY class period will help you make the grade, it will help you feel very accomplished, and you could even make some new friends. Getting dressed and not wearing pajamas in class makes it even more realistic.

Not all of these tips might be feasible, but giving them a try has helped me tremendously. Especially during uncertain times like these, making life easier on yourself can only help!
