Dealing with school online can be a lot to handle. Daily routines can get repetitive; time will fly by, and next thing you know, it’s already 10 PM. That’s why it’s important to expand your activities throughout your day. Not only would this make your days fun, but it also decreases the potential stress you have been building up over the past days as a college student in a pandemic. Yes! Remember that we are in a pandemic. Give yourself a pat on the back for being where you are right now. You will look at yourself and say, “Wow, I did that.” Here are some tips that I typically use throughout my virtual day.
Since some of us have more time in the morning and don’t have to worry about being late or physically going to a location for class, treat yourself to a good breakfast in the morning! Promise me, it will make a whole world of difference going about your day. You will feel more energized and less grumpy, even if it’s something small like a fruit. My go-to breakfast is oatmeal with banana, peanut butter, granola, and chia seeds. It makes me look forward to my mornings.
Go for a run! If you want to keep your stress levels low, make some time in the morning or at night to go on a light jog. Create your playlist, tie up your shoes, and go! Not a runner? You can always go for a walk around campus! Don’t forget to wear your masks though.
Always focus on school. You’re here for a reason: to earn your degree that you are working hard on. However, don’t forget you’re a human being with valid emotions. If you feel like you’re about to break down, close that computer and take a nap or hang out with your roommates. You can also watch a favorite movie or show to de-stress. However, don’t forget that you still have to do work! Not every day is a self-care day.
At the end of the day, time management is key. It is not easy to obtain it, but it is never hard to get adjusted to it! Take it day by day and remember to treat yourself kindly. Like I said before, you are a college student in a pandemic. Don’t be hard on yourself, you got this!
