What’s up guys! It’s been a while since I’ve last blogged, but I’m back for another semester of fun and informational posts for you all.
I thought I’d start my first post of the semester with a recap of my summer. This summer, I actually stayed on campus for the first time to work, take a summer course, and apply for grad schools!
Getting a summer job while in college is a smart choice, especially if you don’t have much to do during those few months. College is expensive, so it’s nice to have some money in your wallet that you can spend on personal things. I worked as an ISTAR—Illinois Student Admissions Representative—and welcomed in the new class of 2023! It was a busy time, but I had a lot of fun and met a lot of new coworkers! I saved up that money, and now I budget my spending over the course of the semester so that I know I’m spending wisely.
Illinois offers a lot of courses over the summer if you want to get ahead or you’re just interested in taking a fun course to learn more about it! Illinois also offers summer online sessions. You can take challenging and high-demand courses in an online-format from anywhere in the world. The summer can be a time of growing and learning valuable skills to bring you one step closer to graduation.
Applying for Graduate Schools
I spent a good chunk of my time applying to graduate schools. I utilized resources like writing workshops, the career center for mock interview sessions, and writing tutors at the library as well. If you ever need guidance on how to apply for an internship, a job, graduate schools, etc. the career center is a great place to go with your questions.
